A private chef plating a multi-course dinner

Private-chef pricing in Trinidad & Tobago lands in three rough tiers, and the difference between them isn't really about the food — it's about how much of the evening the chef is taking off your plate.

**Tier 1 — TT$600-900/head, 2-6 guests, three courses.** This is your weeknight or small-occasion price. The chef arrives with prepped components, finishes on-site, plates, serves, and cleans your kitchen before they leave. Wine pairing usually not included.

**Tier 2 — TT$1,100-1,600/head, 4-12 guests, four to five courses.** A genuine multi-course tasting experience. Chef brings a server. Custom menu after a phone consult. Includes a more involved cleanup and proper plating. Wine pairing optional, usually +TT$200-300/head.

**Tier 3 — TT$2,000+/head, special occasions, full evening.** Anniversary, milestone birthday, intimate wedding. Custom menu designed around your dietary preferences and the occasion. Server, sommelier optional, full setup, full breakdown. Some chefs at this tier insist on a kitchen walkthrough first.

**The line items most quotes leave out:** ingredient sourcing fees (premium proteins, specialty produce), travel beyond a 30km radius, equipment rental for non-standard plating, gratuity (usually 15-20%), and weekend or holiday surcharges (often 1.25-1.5x).

**The single best question to ask:** 'What does your quote NOT include?' A good chef will answer this question without hesitation.
