A weekend kitchen reset, in six moves

There's a particular kind of Sunday-afternoon despair that comes from staring into a fridge of half-eaten things, knowing the week ahead has no room for grocery runs. The reset isn't a cleanse. It's a routine — six small moves, ninety minutes — that turns a chaotic kitchen into one that quietly cooperates with the week ahead.
Step one: empty everything from the fridge onto the counter. This is the only step that feels worse before it feels better. Trust it.
Step two: wipe down the shelves. Not deep-clean — just wipe. Two minutes.
Step three: triage. Three piles: keep, cook tonight, toss. Be honest about the cook-tonight pile. If it doesn't get cooked tonight it's actually a toss.
Step four: prep two anchors for the week. One protein, one grain. That's it. Resist the temptation to do six.
Step five: chop one vegetable into something you'll actually use. Bell pepper into strips. Carrots into coins. Future-you will thank present-you.
Step six: write a three-line note to yourself on the fridge: what's in there, what needs eating first, what to grab on Tuesday. The note is the whole point. The note is what makes Wednesday-you feel held.
