Why was my card charged twice?

You'll often see two entries — a temporary authorization and the actual charge. The authorization drops off automatically.

3 min read·Updated April 15, 2026·For clients

When you book, your bank places a temporary authorization on the booking amount. When the pro accepts, we capture the actual charge — and the original authorization releases on its own within 1-7 days depending on your bank.

How to tell

  • Authorizations are usually labeled "pending" in your banking app.
  • Captured charges show the merchant name (Island Pro or the pro's business).
  • Only one will become a real charge on your statement.
Still see both after 10 days?
Email hello@islandpro.co with the booking ID and we'll chase it with the bank for you.
